From a spectacular, gently sloping vineyard across from Freemark Abbey on Route 29, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a first-growth Pauillac-like feel, with creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood and Christmas fruitcake. A floral note also makes an appearance in this dense, purple-colored wine with full-bodied opulence, sweet tannin, and a terrific personality. From a spectacular, gently sloping vineyard across from Freemark Abbey on Route 29, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Massive, yet smooth and polished, with a subdued offering of ripe plum, floral and black cherry fruit that slowly builds in intensity and depth. Gains momentum on the finish, where the tannins are ripe and the flavors are tapered. Best from 2009 through 2020. 168 cases made.

The wine's suave, lush tannins make it remarkably user-friendly even from barrel. Hugely rich wine, finishing with notes of roasted fruits and mocha.

From the valleys of California and Chile to the rolling hillsides of the Bordeaux region of France, the one red wine grape varietal you will find in abundance is the Cabernet Sauvignon. This darkly colored grape has been cultivated since the mid 18th century, when it was borne from a cross of fine Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc varietals.
