An enticing nose offers notes of blackberry and blueberry alongside green bell pepper, light notes of cassis add to its complexity. On the well-structured palate, chalky but firm tannins reveal plum, blackberry, cherry and eucalyptus. Vibrant acidity balances out the flavors throughout the delicious finish. This Malbec-based blend, with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Petit Verdot, is fresh and bold with good aging potential.

A new second wine here, the 2020 Rocas de Seña is named after the rocky soils from Seña is different as it includes Mediterranean grapes in the blend. This is the first vintage produced, and it’s a blend of 38% Malbec, 25% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Grenache (from their property in Vertientes, where the Syrah also comes from) and 8% Petit Verdot from selected plots from their property in Aconcagua. 2020 was warm and dry and saw an early harvest that delivered concentrated and powerful wines, this one at 14% alcohol and with a pH of 3.53 and 6.09 grams of acidity. It fermented mostly in stainless steel and 10% in concrete eggs, and the blend matured for 22 months in French oak barrels, 65% of them new. The nose is very expressive, and the palate is juicy and textured palate, a little warmer and riper than the Seña, with that Mediterranean twist from the Garnacha and Syrah. It has an intense nose, quite primary, with red berries, herbs and even a citrus touch, but there is no sweetness at all. The fine tannins have grip, and the finish is dry and serious. The élevage was similar to the Seña, but in the future, they might go for a slightly shorter élevage and use some foudres. The wine has a very nice bright color and is still young and lively, very much in the serious and elegant style of the Seña, despite the warm inaugural vintage, showing in the juicy palate. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022.

The 2020 Rocas de Seña is the first vintage to be released on the market. A blend of 38% Malbec, 25% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Grenache and 8% Petit Verdot, it spent 22 months in French barrels, two thirds of them new. Purple in hue. The aromatic profile features country herbs, cherry and wax notes followed by hints of blackcurrant and blackberry against a cedar backdrop. Juicy on the palate with refined, reactive tannins, it has a core of vibrant freshness that invigorates the mouthfeel and lends energy to the long finish.

The first time Seña's second wine will be sold via the Place de Bordeaux. Full and vibrant, such a lovely bright intensity to this. It's not massively complex but delivers a full glass of ripe strawberries, red cherries, pomegranates and blackcurrants with mocha notes and a hint of sweet and smoked spice. Vibrant with lifted acidity and overall freshness. Stylish and characterful with fresh fruit, thrilling acidity and balance. Easy to drink and like. This is well made and a surefire hit! A blend of 38% Malbec, 25% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Grenache and 8% Petit Verdot. Ageing 22 months in French oak barrels (65% new).

Country: Chile

Chile has a long and rich wine history which dates back to the Spanish conquistadors of the 16th century, who were the first to discover that the wonderful climate and fertile soils of this South American country were ideal for vine cultivation. It has only been in the past forty or fifty years, however, that Chile as a modern wine producing nation has really had an impact on the rest of the world. Generally relatively cheap in price,Whilst being widely regarded as definitively 'New World' as a wine producing country, Chile has actually been cultivating grapevines for wine production for over five hundred years. The Iberian conquistadors first introduced vines to Chile with which to make sacramental wines, and although these were considerably different in everything from flavor, aroma and character to the wines we associate with Chile today, the country has a long and interesting heritage when it comes to this drink. Chilean wine production as we know it first arose in the country in the mid to late 19th century, when wealthy landowners and industrialists first began planting vineyards as a way of adopting some European class and style. They quickly discovered that the hot climate, sloping mountainsides and oceanic winds provided a perfect terroir for quality wines, and many of these original estates remain today in all their grandeur and beauty, still producing the wines which made the country famous.
