A savory blend of black cherries, extra dark chocolate and underbrush wafts up from the 2020 Rosso Alanera. This is silky-smooth and quite polished in feel, with depths of wild berry fruit and citrus adding contrast. The 2020 finishes with medium length, a bit dry, yet completely satisfying. There's no need to wait here as the Rosso Veronese aims to please. This is a blend of 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. ... More details

Wine Spectator
A lightly chewy, medium-bodied red, with loamy earth and smoke accents underscoring macerated black cherry, red licorice and cured tobacco notes. Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now. 15,000 cases made, 7,500 cases imported.
Winery
Alanera translates as "black wing," a reference to the raven, "corvo" in Italian, and an homage to the Valpolicella region's treasured indigenous grape, "Corvina". Alanera is a seductive wine that derives extra richness from an innovative variation on the traditional appassimento method practiced throughout the zone. Brilliant ruby in color, Alanera delights the senses with a variety of aromas and flavors that include fresh and dried cherries and prunes, sweet spice, and hints of coffee and tobacco. On the palate, Alanera is full-bodied with elegant and velvety tannins. Vibrant acidity brings balance and freshness, and supports a long and harmonious finish.

Region: Veneto

Veneto's wine are much loved around the world for their strength of character, and the region itself is an interesting one from a viticultural perspective. Sheltered by the Alps, Veneto is protected by the harsh central European climate, making it possible to grow a wide range of high quality grape varietals, which wineries manage to do to great effect. This beautiful corner of north-eastern Italy has over ninety thousand hectares under vine, with over a third of this area having the prestigious DOC rating awarded to it by the Italian government. Veneto is Italy's second largest producer of wines, and their dedication to quality and innovation brings about a fantastic range of wine styles, enjoyed around the world for their flavors, aromas and distinctive character.

Country: Italy

Italy is recognised as being one of the finest wine producing countries in the world, and it isn't difficult to see why. With a vast amount of land across the country used primarily for vineyard cultivation and wine production, each region of Italy manages to produce a wide range of excellent quality wines, each representative of the region it is produced in. Any lover of Italian wines will be able to tell you of the variety the country produces, from the deliciously astringent and alpine-fresh wines of the northern borders, to the deliciously jammy and fruit-forward wines of the south and the Italian islands. Regions such as Barolo are frequently compared with Bordeaux and Burgundy in France, as their oak aged red wines have all the complexity and earthy, spicy excellence of some of the finest wines in the world, and the sparkling wines of Asti and elsewhere in Italy can easily challenge and often exceed the high standards put forward by Champagne. Thanks to excellent terrain and climatic conditions, Italy has long since proven itself a major player in the world of wines, and long may this dedication to quality and excellence continue.
