For at least five hundred years, the area around south Piedmont in northern Italy has been home to the Cortese grape varietal, a particularly fine and delicate grape famed for its lightness and crispness, and the fact that the white wine made from them is considered a perfect match for cuisine of the region. Cortese grapes are usually associated with crisp, fresh and slightly tart flavors of lime and greengage, and other green fruits.
