All from 80-year-old vines, the 2022 Côte De Nuits Villages La Croix Violette was all destemmed and brought up in used barrels. It has a hint of iron/marine-like nuance in its darker black cherry and mulberry notes as well as spicy, herbal, and peppery nuances. It’s rockingly good on the palate, with medium-bodied richness, a great core of fruit, soft tannins, and just tons of up-front charm and character. It’s a beautiful, character-filled Burgundy to drink over the coming decade and is well worth seeking out.
