The 2020 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is total class. A whiff of sweet smoke and dusty stone gives way to ginger and crushed yellow apple nuances. It envelopes the palate with rich, opulent fruits that coast along a balancing core of brisk, mineral-tinged acidity. The Riserva Vorberg finishes long and potent, yet youthfully backward, as the senses ache under its concentration and a salty flourish slowly tapers off. There is a huge potential, but it will take time for the 2020 to come fully into focus. Bury your bottles deep. ... More details

Grown high on the south-facing slopes of Monzoccollo this Pinot Bianco is one of the historic wines of Alto Adige. The warm sun gives this wine aromas of ripe apples, baked lemon and honey. While the cool mountain air provides the wine with cool crisp acidity and lifted floral aromas. The palate shows baked pears with honey, a touch of lemon and pressed wildflowers. The wine finishes with ample acidity showcasing how long this wine can age. Drink Now - 2035+

This has lovely focus to the flavors of creamed apple and pear, pastry and crushed almond, orange zest and vanilla set in a lithe, elegant frame. Round and well-knit, but with good vibrancy through to the finish of delicate verbena, herb and mineral notes. Drink now through 2028. 5,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.
Winery
Color: Sparkling straw yellow. Smell: The multifaceted aroma of this wine derives from a combination of ripe fruit, including honeydew melon, white peach, pear and Golden Delicious apple, together with the aromas of quince jelly, camomile and pineapple, on the one hand, and mineral notes of flint on the other. Taste: The interplay of fruity aromatic and salty components is repeated on the palate. The compact structure and elegant creamy elements create a lingering, firmly minerally and spicy character on the aftertaste.

Region: Trentino/Alto Adige

The northernmost Italian wine region of Trentino-Alto Adige has been producing unique and characterful wines for centuries, and is today widely considered to be the home of Italy's finest white wines, and several outstanding red wines, too. The region itself is quite unlike any other in Italy, as a large Germanic population and the proximity to other European countries has led to a range of interesting influences on the viticulture of Trentino-Alto Adige. The result is a range of wines made with native and imported grape varietals which are packed full of beautiful alpine flavors, and white wines which have all the crispness and dryness of the finest German wines. Trentino-Alto Adige is a region where traditional practices reign supreme, and it is heartening to see that most of the region's output still comes from relatively small, independent family run wineries, dedicated to the quality and uniqueness of their produce.

Country: Italy

It isn't difficult to understand why Italy is famed not just for the quality of its wines, but also for the vast variety and range of characteristics found in the wines there. The terrain of the country varies wildly, from the lush rolling green hills and valley of Tuscany, to the sun drenched rocky coasts of Sicily, the mountainous and alpine regions of the north, and the marshy lowlands of the east. Italy really does have a little bit of everything. Combine this huge range of landscapes with an almost perfect climate for grape cultivation, and you have a country seemingly designed for viticultural excellence. The results speak for themselves, and it is clear to see that wine has become an inseparable part of Italian culture as a result of its abundance and brilliance. Each village, city and region has a local wine perfectly matched with the cuisine of the area, and not an evening passes without the vast majority of Italian families raising a glass of locally sourced wine with pride and pleasure.
