Based in Barsac, and has that wonderful spicy tight minerality of a Barsac. A really late harvest this year, right through til the end of October. This has such a beautiful balm yet again for me lacks some pep. It's not a 2007 or 2001 or 2011. But it's gorgeous. The texture of these wines is so crazily seductive and the power and intensity of toasted blood orange slices is stunning, but it would benefit from a lime soaked twist. Drinking Window 2022 - 2050.

The pale lemon colored 2016 Doisy-Vedrines is a little closed to begin, giving way to notes of lemonade, grapefruit, white peaches and yuzu with wafts of ginger, honeycomb and crushed rocks. The palate is wonderfully elegant and refreshing with delicate citrus and mineral layers and a lively citrus lift to the finish.

A focused and forward style, offering a mix of peach, mango and flan notes lined with subtle ginger and marzipan accents. An almond cream echo lines the finish. Best from 2022 through 2036. 3,750 cases made.

Tons of candied citrus and some floral honey character here. Not as lush as some Sauternes, but more lively and charming than most and the bright finish is long. This is food-friendly – think blue cheese and pate. Drink or hold.
Winery
Vivid, quite intense nose with a spicy savoury twist to the sweet expressive fruit. The sweet palate has a nice intensity, with butterscotch and caramel alongside the apricotty botrytis notes. Quite plump and lush.

Region: Bordeaux

The Bordeaux region of France is possibly the most famous and widely respected wine region in the world. Known primarily for its exceptional blended red wines, made most commonly with Cabernet Sauvigon, Merlot and Petit Verdot grape varietals, it also produces superb dry white wines (both blended and single variety), alongside the highly esteemed sweet wines of Sauternes. All of these wine types use a careful mix of traditional wine-making methods alongside modern techniques, as well as more experimental and unorthodox practices such as turning their grapes over to the noble rot which intensifies the flavors in the sweet wines. Bordeaux benefits greatly from its position amongst wide river basins, and the cooling Atlantic breezes which blow across the rolling vineyards which cover this region.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
