This estate continues to produce a brilliant Saint-Emilion. The 2018 Château La Serre is based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, all from the upper plateau and clay and limestone soils. Its saturated purple hue is followed by a ripe, polished, medium to full-bodied wine with beautiful cassis fruits, succulent aromas and flavors of tobacco, chocolate, and lead pencil, sweet tannins, and a great mix of elegance and richness. It's a beautiful wine that will evolve gracefully for 15-20 years.

Produced by the d'Arfeuille family, this wine is densely tannic while also perfumed from the Cabernet Franc in the blend. It has a strong presence, black fruits and a solid dry core promising aging potential. Drink this powerful wine from 2026.

Blackberries, herbs, spices and some mocha undertones on the nose. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins. Juicy and savory on the palate. Clean, flavorful finish. Hot stones and fruit at the finish. Try after 2023.

The 2018 La Serre has a gorgeous, pure bouquet of vibrant wild strawberry and cranberry fruit, very well defined with neatly integrated new oak. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry. There is beautifully judged acidity and impressive depth with hints of dark chocolate toward the finish. This is a wonderful Saint-Émilion that comes highly recommended. As I said before, a hidden gem.

Fresh, ripe and engaging, with a mix of plum, raspberry and cherry compote notes taking the lead, while light red licorice, applewood and savory details dot the finish. Approachable now, but no rush. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2022 through 2032. 2,000 cases made.

The 2016 La Serre is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has a medium garnet-purple color and reveals a vibrant nose of red cherries, blueberry pie and fresh plums with nuances of pencil lead, wild sage and fertile loam. Medium-bodied, refreshing and wonderfully juicy in the mouth, it has a lovely soft texture and a pleasant herbal lift on the finish.

Varietal: Red Bordeaux

Bordeaux red wines are widely regarded as being the finest red wines produced anywhere in the world, regularly topping awards lists and generally being amongst the most sought after and collectable bottles available. The secret to their success and their particularly memorable and refined characteristics is the fact that Bordeaux red wines are made from a blend of grape varietals, most commonly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, helped by a touch of Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc.
