The depth and intensity is very beautiful, yet with electrifying acidity that gives this wine energy and excitement. Full to medium body with a fine, dense mid-palate that takes over at the finish. Lots of dried-lemon and fresh-fennel flavors at the end. Exuberant. Drink or hold. ... More details

Pavillon Blanc has become more elegant. A refined 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with strong herbal notes, waxy tropical fruit and jasmine flowers on the nose. Drinking Window 2020 - 2032.

Features bracing hints of lemon pith, chalk, thyme and fleur de sel, but leans toward the plumper side in the end, with delicious shortbread and yellow apple notes stretching out through the finish. Shows remarkable purity and serious length. Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2028. 833 cases made.

The 2016 Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux features fresh grapefruit, white peaches and lemon juice scents springing from the glass, followed by lime leaves, wet pebbles and elderflower plus a touch of honeysuckle. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and fresh with loads of vivacity and a long, mineral-laced finish.

Fully ripe with herbal flavors and a crisp texture, this wine shows the richness that come out of whites in the Médoc. It has a salty edge along with some minerality that gives this rich wine its texture. Drink from 2021.

Always based on Sauvignon Blanc and brought up in 20% new French oak, the 2016 Pavillon Blanc shows a racy, reductive style that slowly opens up in the glass and shows more and more richness. Beautiful notes of crushed citrus, tart peach, and bright minerality all emerge from this medium-bodied, concentrated white that has high yet integrated acidity, flawless balance, and a great finish. It’s hard to resist, yet I suspect it will keep for decades.

The 2016 Pavillon Blanc de Château Margaux, which was bottled in May, has a beguiling bouquet of Golden Delicious apple, Williams pear and light crushed stone aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a taut line of acidity (in fact, the pH is 3.10 in this vintage) – citrus-fresh with impressive tension. A live-wire Pavillon Blanc with great sustain on the rich finish and a tang of ginger on the aftertaste. Superb.

Varietal: White Bordeaux

The beautifully crafted and carefully blended white wines of the Bordeaux region of France have gone down in history as being amongst the finest in the world. The secret to the success of these wonderfully flavorful, complex and elegant wines is in the selection of particularly high quality grape varietals, with French law dictating that only nine varietals of white grapes can be grown in the region and used in the production of blended white Bordeaux wine. The most common grape varietals used in the blend are Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle varietals, which each add their own flavors and aromas to the wine, balancing out each other and rounding the wine. The other six varietals are seen less and less nowadays, but are still used by certain heritage wineries and are expected to make a comeback.

Region: Bordeaux

The wineries of Bordeaux in France are widely considered to be amongst the finest on earth, with many of the chateaux found on the Left Bank and in the Médoc region routinely demanding enormous prices and being snapped up by collectors looking to add the best examples of the world's white and red wines to their cellars. Bordeaux's secret to success comes from the fact that the terroir of the region is exceptionally rich in minerals, helped by the clay and gravel soils which typify the area and the Gironde river which runs through it. Normally humid in climate, the nearby Atlantic coast supplies cooling breezes, making Bordeaux a winemaker's dream and resulting in extremely high quality grape varietals. For hundreds of years, the wineries of Bordeaux have been mastering the art of wine blending, and today produce a wide range of wine styles using many of the sixteen grape varietals permitted to grow in the region by French law.

Country: France

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.

Appellation: Margaux

There are few appellations in the world quite as famous or with a high reputation so enduring as that of Margaux. This relatively small sub-region of France's Bordeaux has consistently produced many of the planet's finest red wines for centuries, and the chateaus which run all along the banks of the Gironde river have no intention of letting their reputation drop. Indeed, the red Bordeaux grapes which thrive in the gravelly vineyards of Margaux are generally considered amongst the best in the world for flavor, aroma and overall character, and great care is taken by traditional wine-makers in the region to ensure such features make it to the bottle. Overall, Margaux is a center of excellence in viticulture which has become the envy of the wine making world, and long may it continue.
