Possibly one of the best-balanced whiskies around—which is what blending is all about—this honey-hued Scotch measures out fruit, smoke, oak and spice. The fresh, enticing scent incorporates fresh apple, orange peel and milky caramel. On the palate, light smokiness up front gives way to more vanilla and fruit, winding into the long baking-spice finish. (Best Buy) ... More details

Reinvention, reimagination, call it what you will, but Dewar’s master blender Stephanie Macleod’s introduction of first-fill bourbon cask finishing elevates this classic to the higher echelons of blended scotch whisky. It may seem a small gesture, but the result of combining the marrying and finishing processes is both captivatingly delicious and texturally silken, adding seemingly infinite layers of honey, vanilla, dried apricot, citrus, chocolate, and soft oak to the tasting experience, interwoven with a wisp of smoke. Without changing a beat of the blend’s 40 malts and grains, Macleod’s methods prove her mastery of the craft yet again. (#4 Whisky of the Year, 2022)

Gold color. Aromas of apricot preserves on whole wheat scone, toasted barley, apple-cinnamon yogurt, and pannetone with a slightly chewy, crisp, dryish medium body and a tingling, medium-length honey butter, toasted biscuit, and orange cordial finish. A rock-solid blended scotch with great versatility.

Stewed golden plumand treacle with hints of almond liqueur, cherry compote, tobacco, and dried mint. Luxurious and semi sweet on the palate, ripe orchard fruits mingle with savory herbs, toasted oak, and mocha. Hints of grilled almond and tropical melon abound on the finish. - 2021 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE
