The 2020 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is the one cuvée that had slight suggestions of some over-ripe fruit , though minor and this could be subsumed with bottle age. The palate is well balanced and here, I could not find any sur-maturité, but a sensual, velvety texture and a touch of spiciness towards the harmonious finish that is blurred by a little warmth of alcohol, a whopping 15.0° in this cuvée.

An acceptably fresh nose features a layered mix of ripe red and dark cherry, cassis and discreet floral nuances. There is better freshness and verve to the well-defined and more refined medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding length on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. I like the balance though it's hard to predict whether the nose will regain freshness with some bottle aging though my score offers the benefit of the doubt that it will.
Winery
Bressandes is highly expressive, firm, and powerful thanks to the high limestone content of its soil. Often cited as one of the very best climats on the Corton hill, it shows aromas and flavors of red and blackberry liqueur, earthiness, flowers, and herbs with powerful tannins. Corton-Bressandes will reward long aging in a cool cellar.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Regularly described as being the grape varietal responsible for producing the world's most romantic wines, Pinot Noir has long been associated with elegance and a broad range of flavors The name means 'black pine' in French, and this is due to the fact that the fruit of this particular varietal is especially dark in color, and hangs in a conical shape, like that of a pine cone. Despite being grown today in almost every wine producing country, Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult grape variety to cultivate. This is because it is especially susceptible to various forms of mold and mildew, and thrives best in steady, cooler climates. However, the quality of the fruit has ensured that wineries and vintners have persevered with the varietal, and new technologies and methods have overcome many of the problems it presents. Alongside this, the wide popularity and enthusiasm for this grape has ensured it will remain a firm favorite amongst wine drinkers for many years to come.

Region: Burgundy

The wines which come out of the Burgundy region of France are regularly hailed as amongst the finest in the world, with the area now being synonymous with quality red wines of exceptional flavor, character and aroma. However, Burgundy is no newcomer to the world of fine wines, with the earliest recordings of the quality of this region's produce dating back to the 6th century, and archaeological evidence suggesting that vineyards had been cultivated there for over two thousand years. Today, there are dozens of controlled appellations within Burgundy, each producing exceptional wines typical of the region. The whole area benefits greatly from hot summers and mild, long autumnal periods, which, when coupled with the generations of expertise of the wineries in Burgundy, consistently produces superb wines for the world's enjoyment.

Appellation: Cote De Beaune

The stunning and historic appellations of Cote De Beaune in France date back centuries, and are a vitally important center for the fine French wine industry.
