That dichotomy runs through the wine, a contrast of rich, round textural pleasure and more seriously firm, mineral cool. There’s spicy red fruit at its core, adding to the wine’s youthful tension. Dusty plum, tobacco and dark chocolate play against a soft texture in this varietal wine with a Merlot-like sensibility. Black and red currant and cherry mix well on the fruity palate, seasoned in appropriate measures of cedar, black pepper and clove.

There's an herbal edge to the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, yet it has solid intensity and purity to its cassis and blackberry fruit core. Medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and balanced, with fine tannin, it's a well-made, thoroughly enjoyable Cabernet that will drink nicely for 10-15 years.

The 2014 vintage has delivered an elegant, age-worthy and invitingly fragrant expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of red currant, dried cherry, cigar box, cocoa, tobacco leaf and fig compote rise from the glass. On the palate, this wine is fresh and supple with flavors of huckleberry, spiced plum, rhubarb and red currant supported by dusty, fine-grained tannins and hints of cedar and sage.

Since their conception in 18th century France, Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have flourished across the Old and New Worlds and have changed the way we think about red wine forever.
