There's something pleasantly herbaceous about the nose, with English breakfast tea, sage, and a whisper of spearmint right up front. Spending more time with the glass yields other flavors: delicate fruit and Ghirardelli raspberry-chocolate squares. The palate delivers more earthiness, as well as spicy black pepper, menthol, and ripe, tangy red fruit. Winery
Sweet and floral on the nose with notes of espresso, tea, honey and orange peel. The taste is smooth, warm and sweet with a subtle rye spice note; caramel and honey mingle with just enough oak and char to round out the richness which is chewy and oak. The character correspondingly shifts on the finish to drier notes of pipe tobacco, walnut. As they fade a little more fruit emerges, around rhubarb jam.

The first European settlers to consider growing grapevines in the United States must have been delighted when they discovered the now famous wine regions within California, Oregon and elsewhere.
