Vibrant wild blackberry nose with plenty of fresh-ground black pepper character. Ripe and plush, but with a lovely freshness, this is an elegant syrah with a cool climate personality. Excellent balance of healthy tannins and lively acidity at the long finish. Drink or hold.

Varietal: Syrah

The Shiraz or Syrah grape varietal has seen a huge surge in popularity over the past few decades, partly due to the fact that more and more wineries around the world are beginning to plant and process this robust and flavorful grape for international audiences. This varietal has plenty going for it, and has the special ability of being able to clearly express positive features of its terroir in the bottle, alongside its characteristic flavors of dark berries, pepper and other spices. Shiraz/Syrah is also notably a highly versatile grape, and has been successfully used in several type of still red wine, as well as excellent sparkling and fortified wines. It is also regularly used as a blending grape, where it is prized for its ability to add a bold and strong, spicy punch to mellow, blended wines.

The dry and arid region of Galilee in Israel is perhaps not the most obvious home of fine New World wines, but then, Galilee has many more things in common with Old World countries than one might think. The mineral rich, volcanic soils around the base of Mount Tabor have proven to be an ideal home for many exciting and classic Bordeaux grape varietals, and everything from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, to fine and flavorful Chardonnay and Sémillon varietals flourish under the hot, middle eastern sunshine. As one might expect, kosher laws play an important role in the production of Galilee wines, and religious experts are regularly called in at all stages of the wine making process to ensure that everything is being done in accordance to ancient religious practices.

Israel enjoys a Mediterranean climate, and has plenty of mineral rich soil on which to grow vines. There are several micro climates across the country, formed by the geographical features of the land, and wineries have had a long and successful relationship with the imported French grape varietals which flourish there.
