Savory cocoa powder and sandalwood to the blackberries, olives, dried herbs and pine cones. A hint of red chili pepper, too. Very full-bodied red, packed with powerful, granular tannins that will need time to soften. Extracted, a little chewy and heady, but luckily this is still juicy and very long, with lots of creamy oak. A bit obvious, but shows quality, too. Needs at least two or three years to come together. Winery
Deeply concentrated yet focused, with highlights of tobacco, mocha, and blackberry in the nose. This vintage is broad and rich with a soft opening of savory blackberry, red currant, fresh herb, and chocolate flavors. More elegant in style compared to previous vintages and more approachable. The generous use of new French oak marries perfectly with the ripe fruit and leads to a finish showing vanilla and toasty caramel.

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Since their conception in 18th century France, Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have flourished across the Old and New Worlds and have changed the way we think about red wine forever. Their sharp and astringent nature has a wonderful ability to mellow and round with age, and when helped by being blended with Merlot and Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc varietals – as is done in Bordeaux and elsewhere – the results can be truly remarkable.
