Aromas of quinine, iodine and shellfish add breadth to the floral and white orchard fruit scents. As is virtually always the case, the medium-bodied flavors possess both more richness and volume thanks to the more abundant sap that coats the mouth and buffers the moderately firm acid spine shaping the relatively linear finish. At least some patience is suggested, which should also help to add complexity. ... More details

The 2020 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has a light green apple and fresh pear scented bouquet that just needs a little more vigour. The palate is well balanced with a slightly chalky entry, fresh green apple and gooseberry notes with a little more spiciness on the finish compared to other crus. Thoroughly enjoyable, even if it does miss a bit of persistence.

A ripe style, offering peach, yellow apple and fresh floral and herb accents. Starts out rich, firming up on the stony, succulent finish. Drink now through 2026. 100 cases imported.
Winery
Pale gold in colour, limpid and brilliant with golden reflections. The first nose is pleasantly fruity with exotic notes (pineapple), some woody notes then appear after oxygenation. The whole has great elegance. A lively attack on the palate with plenty of energy. We find these fruity, tangy aromas (pineapple, lemon) which are accompanied by a few toasted, grilled notes on the finish. Fine density and length. A fine Chablis 1er cru with great future potential. Food and wine pairings: Aperitif, plancha prawns or scallops, sushi.

green grapes

Varietal: Chardonnay

In the past couple of decades, the sales of wines made with Chardonnay grapes has risen and fallen more than once. For many people, this green skinned grape was marred by a poor reputation for bland and uninteresting wines, a great shame considering the fact that Chardonnay grapes have proven time and time again to be interesting, versatile and full of surprises. Most commonly, fine Chardonnay wines are buttery, smooth and creamy as a result of malolactic fermentation, yet with hints of tropical fruits and orchard fruits such as apples and pears. What is most remarkable about Chardonnay grapes, however, is the fact that unlike many other 'white' grapes, they are exceptionally good at holding the characteristics of their terroir in the bottle. As such, despite their fluctuating reputation, this is one grape varietal which produces constantly surprising, impressive and varied wines.

Region: Burgundy

The beautiful region of Burgundy in France is famously home to some of the most exquisite red wines to be found anywhere on earth, and is most commonly associated with the silky, elegant and flavorful Pinot Noir varietal wines which are commonly produced there. However, the superb and mineral rich soils fed by the Rhone river, and the long hot summers and mild autumns of the region produce a wide variety of fine grapes, and as such, Burgundy produces plenty of different wines which are equally as good as the produce the region is famed for. The region of Burgundy itself has a wine-making history which stretches back at least two thousand years, and as such, it comes as no surprise that the wineries which fill the dozens of controlled appellations of the region rely heavily on traditional methods and techniques when it comes to producing their famous wines.

Country: France

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
