Ripe pear, rye bread and chalk take turns on the intriguing nose of this wine. The rounded palate offers generous and mellow notions of baked apple with hints of fresh lemon zest and heady Kirsch. There is heat and power here, but also depth and energy. This wine shines with freshness despite the honeyed, baked fruit richness at its core. The finish is off dry and long. Drink now–2040. ... Roasted-peach and apricot aromas and a rich texture. Behind the considerable creaminess, there is a very lively acidity and some very positive tannins. This makes the finish brighter and drier than the relatively sweet first impression suggested. Better from 2019, and with serious aging potential. A complex field blend made from organically grown grapes.
Winery
Semi-dry wine; powerful and elegant; reserved and charming, fruity and mineral, a wine like an oxymoron. Mouthfeel: rather cold wine, broad and long in the mouth, but above all very thick, full, invasive. Extremely dense. Pulpy dimension of grape juice. However, the mouth feel is acidic, tartaric, ribbed, with a firm, almost rough side, which dries the mouth on iodine, graphite, carbon.

Region: Alsace

The region of Alsace, between France and Germany, is one of the most historically and viticulturally fascinating regions in the world, and produces several famous and widely loved wines which are very much the combined essence of these two important Old World wine countries. Vintners in Alsace have had centuries to perfect their wines, made with the native grape varietals which thrive successfully in the cooler climate, and produce a range of wines which have long been considered amongst the finest in the world. Riesling, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Vert (formerly known as Tokay d'Alsace) varietal grapes are all commonly and widely grown in the region, with these particular varietals most highly prized by vintners due to their ability to express the excellence of the Alsatian terroir.

Country: France

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
