Pure and precise, the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet mingles aromas of green apple and white flowers with hints of toasted nuts and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming, it's satiny and enveloping, with bright acids and a saline finish. The 2022 Chablis Les Séchets 1er Cru has a very expressive bouquet of peach and light mango scents commingling with wet stone. The palate is very well-balanced, with hints of tropical fruit. Very seductive, with a touch of fennel right on the finish. Lovely.

The hallmark citrus nuances are abundantly present on the nose of mostly petrol, iodine and wet stone. The rich yet racy medium weight flavors possess very good delineation while exuding an appealing minerality on the clean, dry and persistent finale. This balanced effort could also use more depth so a few years of keeping should help.
Winery
Sechets is a sub-climat of 1er Cru Vaillons. Minots is the warmest part of the valley;as the valley opens up, the sites are cooler. This wine has nice concentration with passion fruit and a salty minerality.

Varietal: Chardonnay

Of all the white wine grape varietals, surely the one which has spread the furthest and is most widely appreciated is the Chardonnay. This green skinned grape is now grown all over the Old and New Worlds, from New Zealand to the Americas, from England to Chile, and is one of the first varietals people think of when considering white wine grapes. Perhaps this is because of its huge popularity which reached a peak in the 1990s, thanks to new technologies combining with traditional methods to bring the very best features out of the Chardonnay grape, and allow its unique qualities to shine through. Most fine Chardonnay wines use a process known as malolactic fermentation, wherein the malic acids in the grape juice are converted to lactic acids, allowing a creamier, buttery nature to come forward in the wine. No grape varietal is better suited to this process than Chardonnay, which manages to balance these silky, creamy notes with fresh white fruit flavors beautifully.

Region: Burgundy

In the beautiful French wine region of Burgundy, there is archaeological evidence to suggest that there has been viticultural activity going on for at least two thousand years. To add to this, there are early written records praising the exceptional wines produced in this region dating back to the 6th century, making Burgundy one of the oldest established and still operational wine regions in the world. The region is most commonly associated with fine red wines, with Pinot Noir being the primary grape varietal grown on its rolling hillsides and gently sloping valleys. However, Chardonnay grapes are also produced in abundance for the production of their fine white wines, with both varietals benefiting greatly from the region's warm, hot summers and the superb soils which make up the terroir.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
