Sourced from Kumesen Distillery, this was distilled, matured in bourbon casks, and bottled in Okinawa. Sweet exotic spices greet the nose, with lime and grapefruit acidity, white pepper, and shimeji mushrooms. It’s clean and light, with sugary sweet Smarties Double Lollies, satsuma, lemon zest, dried apricot, and a few savory notes. As the sweetness fades, there’s fruit Life Savers, lemon, baked citrus, and dried fruits coming through on the finish. - Winter 2022

Country: Japan

The rice wines and plum wines of Japan are amongst the most fascinating, aromatic and seductive national drinks in the world, and it is a testament to the traditional practices and expertise of the producers of these beverages that their popularity is continuing to rise across the globe. Both plum wines and sake are produced in many parts of Japan, and there are even several AOC style appellations dedicated to producing plum wines and sake of the highest quality, overseen by regulations similar to those found in esteemed wine regions of France and elsewhere. Both drinks are inextricably linked with the cuisine of Japan, but both are also highly enjoyable when drank without food, giving the drinker a real taste of the beauty of the far east.
