93-95 The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Capita is the last rendition of this cuvée that Trapet will produce, because in the future all the domaine's premiers crus will be separated. The swan song vintage derives exclusively from vines trained on "paisseaux" (as the Burgundians call the stakes, known as échalas in other regions, that support each individual vine) and was vinified without any destemming. The resulting wine is striking, soaring from the glass with scents of sweet red berries and plums mingled with orange rind, rose petals and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's deep and complete, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish. ... More details

92-94 Containing 100% whole bunch, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Capita, comes from declassified fruit from Les Combottes, Ergot (next to La Petite-Chapelle) and Corbeaux. It has a very perfumed bouquet, one of the most floral in Trapet's range with hints of iris and lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, taut and fresh with a very elegant and poised finish. Excellent.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir translates as 'black pine' in French, and is named as such due to the extremely inky color of the fruits, which hang in bunches the shape of a pine cone. Wineries often struggle with Pinot Noir vines, as more than most red wine grape varietals, they fail in hot temperatures and are rather susceptible to various diseases which can be disastrous when hoping for a late harvest. Thanks to new technologies and methods for avoiding such problems, however, the Pinot Noir grape varietal has spread across the world to almost every major wine producing country. Why? Quite simply because this is considered to be one of the finest grape varietals one can cultivate, due to the fact that it can be used to produce a wide range of excellent wines full of interesting, fresh and fascinating flavors Their thin skins result in a fairly light-bodied wine, and the juices carry beautiful notes of summer fruits, currants and berries, and many, many more.

Region: Burgundy

In the beautiful French wine region of Burgundy, there is archaeological evidence to suggest that there has been viticultural activity going on for at least two thousand years. To add to this, there are early written records praising the exceptional wines produced in this region dating back to the 6th century, making Burgundy one of the oldest established and still operational wine regions in the world. The region is most commonly associated with fine red wines, with Pinot Noir being the primary grape varietal grown on its rolling hillsides and gently sloping valleys. However, Chardonnay grapes are also produced in abundance for the production of their fine white wines, with both varietals benefiting greatly from the region's warm, hot summers and the superb soils which make up the terroir.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.
