The 2014 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) is a super-polished appellation-level Chardonnay. Pear, white flowers and mint give the 2014 its brightness and aromatic lift. A solid value that leans heavily towards the fresher, vibrant end of the spectrum, the 2014 Chardonnay reveals lots of lemon, green herbs and mint to go with a medium-bodied, bracing, borderline tart feel on the palate. Coming from Bien Nacido, Dierberg and Zotovich, and aged ten months in 10% new barrels, it too needs a year to come together.

The 2014 Tyler Winery Santa Barbara County Chardonnay opens aromatically with notes of flint, white chalk, with a combination of stone and citrus fruits and a hint of florality. On the palate, the wine is extremely mineral-driven with notes of white pepper and green apples.

When it comes to New World wine regions, it is widely agreed that many of the finest wines are grown and produced in California. Santa Barbara benefits from the fantastic sunshine the state is famous for, as well as the cooling and temperate Pacific Ocean winds which help to slow the ripening process and ensure the grapes which thrive there end up expressing more flavor and aroma in the bottle. The region itself is renowned for producing high quality and flavorful red wines, commonly made from classic French grape varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon. However, recent years have seen the wineries of Santa Barbara eager to experiment, and today several different red and white wine grapes are growing well in this beautiful region.
