Dusty and floral, the 2019 Rosso Ludi opens in the glass with a blend of musky black currants, plums, a dusting of cocoa and crushed violets. This is velvety and undeniably elegant with a burst of zesty acidity and citrus-tinged wild berry fruits that excite the senses. The Ludi finishes incredibly long and lightly structured with a staining of primary concentration as hints of blueberry and licorice linger on. This is a beautiful example of Offida Montepulciano, complemented by a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a deft use of new French oak. Don't let the heavy weight of the bottle fool you, this is first-class juice. ... More details

Deep, inky color. Slightly heady and jammy with black cherries, oyster sauce, mussels, balsamic fruit, iodine and licorice. Rich, but still fresh with a full-bodied palate rounded by plenty of juicy, fine-grained tannins. Flavorful and fruity. Drink now or hold a year or two.
Winery

NOSE: The nose results deep and intense, with notes of full-ripened dark fruits, blackcurrants, cherries, liquorice, graphite with a touch of balsamic notes. FLAVOR: Elegant on the palate, shows fine, soft and round tannins. Long and fruity finish.

Region: Marche

On the eastern side of central Italy, close to the Adriatic coast, we find the stunning wine region of Marche, a region associated with wines of character and distinction, and renowned for being one of the oldest and most influential wine regions in the country. Indeed, Marche has been an important home of quality wine production for almost three thousand years, and has been used for vineyard cultivation by everyone from the Romans to the Pheonicians, the Greeks and the Lombards. As such, this is a region with a strong and proud traditional identity and heritage, and over its sixty thousand acres, we find many of Italy's finest red and white wines. Marche is primarily considered a white wine region, most closely associated with Trebbiano and Verdicchio grapes. However, the red wine industry in Marche is strong, and features many of Italy's most interesting and characterful red wines, made with beautiful native grape varietals.

Country: Italy

There are few countries in the world with a viticultural history as long or as illustrious as that claimed by Italy. Grapes were first being grown and cultivated on Italian soil several thousand years ago by the Greeks and the Pheonicians, who named Italy 'Oenotria' – the land of wines – so impressed were they with the climate and the suitability of the soil for wine production. Of course, it was the rise of the Roman Empire which had the most lasting influence on wine production in Italy, and their influence can still be felt today, as much of the riches of the empire came about through their enthusiasm for producing wines and exporting it to neighbouring countries. Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.
