Even more powerful and structured than the Bienvenues, the 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru offers up aromas of citrus oil, confit orange and crisp stone fruit mingled with nutmeg, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's muscular and tightly wound, with racy acids, chalky dry extract and a long, resonant finish. ... More details

94-96 The 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a reserved bouquet with crushed stone, white flowers and a touch of white linen, hints of silex emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, just a small reduction, a touch of struck match on the finish with a hint of custard creams in the background. Good persistence, this is a delicious Bâtard-Montrachet in the making. Three barrels produced.

93-96 Moderate reduction presently renders the nose impossible to fairly assess. There is however excellent intensity to the imposingly scaled big-bodied flavors that are both dense and powerful while being blessed with superb underlying tension on the clean, agreeably dry, impeccably well-balanced and hugely long finale. This is terrific and a wine that should amply repay extended keeping.
Winery
Wine with power and very complex aromatic persistence which expresses itself in time with notes of butter and hot croissant, fern, dried fruits, spices and honey.

Varietal: Chardonnay

Despite having its origins in western France, Chardonnay's immense popularity and flexibility quickly meant that before long, there wasn't a wine producing country in the world which wasn't investing in this fascinating and versatile grape varietal. Today, Chardonnays manage to win fine wine competitions and satisfy supermarket shoppers simultaneously, due to the fact that this grape varietal can take on many characteristics and features of where it is grown and how it is handled. Indeed, this green skinned grape is renowned for not having so much unique flavor within the fruit, but is very sensitive to the features of the terroir it is grown in, as well as to aging As such, it isn't unusual to find bottles of single variety Chardonnay wine described as holding notes of white stone, mountain waters, or other such geological features alongside the more predictable fruit descriptions This makes Chardonnay grape varietal wines an exciting world to delve into – full of surprises, full of delights.

Region: Burgundy

The region of Burgundy has become synonymous with high quality red wines, but in actual fact the region consistently produces a wide variety of fine wines of many different styles, rigorously protected by French wine laws designed to keep reputations and quality at a very high level. The region benefits greatly from a warm and sunny summer climate, which, coupled with the excellent quality soils which typify the region, and centuries of experience and expertise, has led to the region being known all over the world for the excellence of its produce. The majority of grapevines grown here are of the Pinot Noir varietal, which has helped Burgundy become known as the definitive region for elegant and smooth red wines, but Chardonnay grapes and many others are also grown in abundance and used to make both still and sparkling wines.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.

Appellation: Cote De Beaune

The historic and utterly enchanting French region of Cote De Beaune has been producing what are widely regarded as many of the world's finest wines for centuries. The wine industry in Cote De Beaune predominantly revolves around the cultivation and processing of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, which flourish under the hot summer sunshine which typifies the area. Mineral rich soils, sea breezes and centuries of experience and expertise help in growing these characterful grapes and transforming them into something truly remarkable. Cote De Beaune white wines tend to be intense, packed full of fascinating fruit flavors and plenty of mineral character, thanks to the fine features of the terroir being expressed through the juice of the Chardonnay grapes. The red wines, on the other hand, are very good indeed - light, fruity and irresistible.
