Light gold color. Aromas and flavors of bananas foster, vanilla and honeyed grains, shortbread cookies, and apricot with a round, lively, dry medium-to-full body and a peppery, intriguing, medium-long finish with touches of honeyed baked apricot cookies, vanilla cream and caramel, and lemon yogurt and granola. An excellent and typical Speyside malt with nice pops of tropical fruits and pastries.

This golden Speyside single malt was aged a full 15 years in ex-Bourbon barrels. The result is a honeyed aroma that mixes fresh apple and pear with a floral hint. The palate opens softly at first, with plenty of fruit and a light veil of peat smoke. Adding water brings more juicy pear, marmalade and vanilla to the forefront, finishing with lingering smoke and spice.

Bright and grassy on the nose, with touches of lilac, honey, golden apple, and toasted hay. On the palate, it’s tart — refreshingly so — reminiscent of plum and redcurrant, with softening tinges of brown sugar and coconut. A well-rounded and pleasurable Scotch. - 2023 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE
