Rated 93 by James Suckling
This generous Champagne has a ton of berry, apple (red, yellow and green) and pear character, and after a little time in the glass, also a touch of exotic fruit. Easily enough structure to back this up, with appealing crispness and some real complexity at the beautifully balanced finish. Drink now.

Rated 91 by Wine Enthusiast
This bottling has some age to it, giving a toasty wine with a crisp texture. Nearly four years before disgorging has given it a mature sheen that has balanced the ripe fruit and enhanced a more mineral element. Drink now.

Rated 90 by Wine Spectator
Rich and satisfying, with plenty of depth to the pear, honey and citrus aromas and flavors, underscored by a taut structure. A medium-bodied, intense NV, this would benefit from a few months in bottle.
Winery
The essence of fine cuisine. The chardonnay grape has an assertive presence. Brut Apanage is left to mature in chalk cellars on the Pommery Estate for a further six months to allow the subtlety and finesse of Pommery wines to slowly emerge.

Varietal: Champagne Blend

There are few wine regions of the world with as much influence or fame as that of Champagne in France. The sparkling wines from this special area have long been associated with excellence and magnificent flavors, and much of their success has been down to the careful blending of fine grape varietals in order to achieve spectacular results. Most commonly, Champagne wines use both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietal grapes in more or less equal measures, often boosted by a small quantity of Pinot Meunier for extra bite. The Chardonnay varietal grapes offer their acidity and flavor to the bottle, and help with the dryness associated with quality in this type of wine. The Pinot Noir, on the other hand, gives strength to the wine, and gives Champagne its distinctive 'length' of character.

Region: Champagne

There are very few wine regions in the world quite as famous as Champagne, and the sparkling white wines which are produced there are drank and enjoyed all over the globe as a result of their excellent quality, distinctive features and their association with grandeur and celebration. Wineries have been operating in the cool, damp north-easterly region of Champagne for hundreds of years, and over time have mastered the art of making the most of the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Petit Meunier grape varietals which grow there across the rolling hillsides and kept in the region's unique 'Champagne caves'. Most commonly, these three varietals are blended together to produce the sparkling white wine, but the popularity of single variety Champagne wines are on the increase.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
