Winery
100% Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. From 30-50-year-old estate vines, farmed organically and harvested by hand. The bunches are picked at normal ripeness and only in perfect health, then dried in the sun for 5-15 days. They are pressed in a by hand in a torchio (a small vertical basket press) and fermented naturally with native yeasts in barrel. The wine is aged in used barrique for around 3 years, followed by 2 more years in bottle. The Vino da Uve Appassite classification does not permit the variety or vintage on the label; the wine is pure Malvasia from a single vintage. "Volta" is the surname of the farmworker who tended these vines for years.

Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy has been considered one of Europe's most important and characterful wine regions for an astonishingly long time. Indeed, for over two and half thousand years, vines of exceedingly high quality have been cultivated in Emilia-Romagna, with many of the region's wines being adored by the Romans, who helped the region grow prosperous as a result of its viticultural excellence. Today, Emilia-Romagna has over fifty five thousand hectares under vine, and no less than twenty-two DOC's producing stunning wines, containing all of the unique flavors and attributes associated with the region. Country: Italy

It isn't difficult to understand why Italy is famed not just for the quality of its wines, but also for the vast variety and range of characteristics found in the wines there. The terrain of the country varies wildly, from the lush rolling green hills and valley of Tuscany, to the sun drenched rocky coasts of Sicily, the mountainous and alpine regions of the north, and the marshy lowlands of the east. Italy really does have a little bit of everything. Combine this huge range of landscapes with an almost perfect climate for grape cultivation, and you have a country seemingly designed for viticultural excellence. The results speak for themselves, and it is clear to see that wine has become an inseparable part of Italian culture as a result of its abundance and brilliance. Each village, city and region has a local wine perfectly matched with the cuisine of the area, and not an evening passes without the vast majority of Italian families raising a glass of locally sourced wine with pride and pleasure.
