Of course, it was the rise of the Roman Empire which had the most lasting influence on wine production in Italy, and their influence can still be felt today, as much of the riches of the empire came about through their enthusiasm for producing wines and exporting it to neighbouring countries. Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.

Today, Tuscany is home to a wide range of wines, from the traditional to the complex, but all dedicated to excellent flavors and aromas, and maintaining the region's international reputation.

The 2021 Rosso 50 & 50 presents a collage of crushed plums, blueberries, mentholated herbs and lifting nuances of split pine. It is soothingly soft and nearly fleshy with a core of tart red and blue fruits. Hints of citrus and dark chocolate meet rosy inner florals on the long, structured finish, where a tinge of residual acidity neatly offsets fine-grained tannins. The 2021 shows lovely balance and remains inviting despite its structure.

50&50 has a deep, ruby red color. Aromas of red berry fruits and black cherries intertwine with scents of sweet tobacco and Mediterranean herbs. The flavour is rich, enveloping and long lingering with lots of ripe fruit and warm notes of baking spices. This elegant blend of Merlot and Sangiovese is perfect for long ageing in the bottle.
