Champagne Blend

The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. Their unique characteristics are partly due to the careful blending of a small number of selected grape varietals, most commonly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These grapes, blended in fairly equal quantities, give the wines of Champagne their wonderful flavors and aromas, with the Pinot Noir offering length and backbone, and the Chardonnay varietal giving its acidity and dry, biscuity nature. It isn't unusual to sometimes see Champagne labeled as 'blanc de blanc', meaning it is made using only Chardonnay varietal grapes, or 'blanc de noir', which is made solely with Pinot Noir.

Region

Champagne

The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

Toasted brioche, red fruit, white pepper, baking spices and yellow peaches on the nose. Fine bubbles and flavors of grenadine, white flowers and blackberries. The palate is soft and tangy, with a well-defined peach character. 52% chardonnay, 29% pinot noir and 19% meunier. Base is 2022. 6 g/L dosage. Drink now.

Pretty and fresh aromas include those of strawberry, raspberry, yeast, just sliced citrus and a suggestion of petrol. There is an appealing texture to the delicious flavors that are also supported by a moderately aggressive mousse while the nicely complex finish offers more energy and tension. I would note that this drinks drier than the dosage would suggest.

Attractive spiced strawberries and bright citrus lead into light biscuit on an invigorating palate with super zesty freshness. (Silver) - DWWA 2025

The NV Champagne Majeur Brut Rosé pours a nearly electric pink hue with aromas of strawberry, white peach, and bread dough. It is medium-bodied, although it is ripe on the mid-palate, with raspberry fruit, melon, and a light saline touch. It has a pretty and easy-drinking style to enjoy over the next 8-10 years.

Winery Notes

Rosé Majeur is the perfect embodiment of the originality and finesse of the House’s wines. Made predominantly from Chardonnay, it is crafted with the addition of a small proportion of still Pinot Noir from the best crus of the Montagne de Reims. A low dosage enables it to express the House style, both feminine and generous, with great elegance. The very high proportion of Chardonnay and the aging process result in a Champagne with remarkable finesse. Brut Rosé Majeur shines with freshness on the palate, offering immediate pleasure and well-balanced flavors.
