A standout Saint-Emilion in my tastings was the 2015 Croix De Labrie from proprietors Axelle and Pierre Courdurié and it’s a wine savvy readers should snatch up. Made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it boasts an awesome nose of crème de cassis and black raspberry fruit intermixed with hints of toasty oak and espresso. With medium to full-bodied depth and richness on the palate, ripe tannin, and a great mid-palate, it needs 3-4 years of bottle age to integrate its oak and gain complexity, and will keep for upwards of two decades. It’s a beauty!
