There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. The 2005 Lynch-Moussas is a supple, fruit-driven wine from the Castéja family. It shows well, with ripe tannin, some blackcurrants, spice and earth. This medium-bodied wine should drink well for another 15 or more years.

Medium ruby. Cassis, chocolate, tar and menthol on the nose. A bit reduced in the mouth, but fat and full for this property, with sweet flavors of cassis and licorice. Not particularly nuanced or refined, but offers good breadth and ripeness. The tannins are dusty but not dry. I can't recall the last time an early sample from this chateau caught my attention like this one.
