A dark red, purple colour to the rim of the wine. Smells heady and full of opulence, perfumed, dried herbs, tobacco and liquorice. Full and round on the palate, this is lush, fleshy, full of power straight away but with lots of acidity to give life and keep it lifted. You can feel the wood here, which constricts the finish a little, just closing down some of the enjoyment but this is a wine with a long life ahead and no need to open this soon. Plush but still fun, ripe but bright.

Plenty of sweet spices, dark chocolate, espresso beans, licorice and cigar box here, with concentrated, ripe blackberries that are still fresh and quite dense. Compressed and tannic, with full body and a very long finish that lasts over half a minute. This needs time to allow the extracted, dusty tannins to soften more. Drink after 2027.
