This really shows Haut Brion character, with black currants, blackberries, iodine, oyster shells and stones on the nose and palate. It’s medium- to full-bodied with firm yet open-grained tannins that are rather chewy and muscular. 55.5% merlot, 40.9% cabernet sauvignon and 3.6% cabernet franc. A wine for the cellar. Best after 2028.

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. The 2023 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion is quite the powerhouse. Ample and potent to the core, Le Clarence is a standout. Black cherry fruit, mocha, gravel, incense, licorice and chocolate fill out the wine's ample, full-bodied frame. Even with all of its natural intensity, Le Clarence is quite polished in its tannin profile.

A serious, focused effort, the 2023 Le Clarence De Haut-Brion offers blackcurrants, scorched earth, tobacco leaf, graphite, and damp earth on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. It's more firm and structured compared to the La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion and will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age. Drink 2028-2048.
