Cabernet Franc is not simply an important grape varietal for the fact that it is one of the most widely grown strains of vine in the world, but also because it is a vital grape in the production of many of the finest wines the world has ever seen. For centuries in its native France, it has been a varietal synonymous with elegance and high quality, and has become a key fruit in the production of the Bordeaux and Bordeaux-style blended wines which have gone down in history thanks to their magnificent flavors, aromas and levels of aged complexity. However, Cabernet Franc is also a wine grape varietal for use in single variety, unblended wines, and has plenty to offer on its own. Most commonly, it is renowned for its wide bouquet, which often includes fascinating notes of tobacco, violets or bell pepper over a beautifully pale and decadent liquid.

There are few countries in the world with a viticultural history as long or as illustrious as that claimed by Italy. For almost three thousand years, this region has been recognized as an ideal home for wine production on a large scale, and the ancient Etruscans, Greeks and Romans all noticed that fine grape varietals flourished on the unique soils and under the hot sunshine which typifies the area. Today, Tuscany is home to a wide range of wines, from the traditional to the complex, but all dedicated to excellent flavors and aromas, and maintaining the region's international reputation.

An enticing whiff of oak spice and dried flowers blows off to reveal depths of pepper rose, raspberry sauce, sage and cocoa as the irresistible 2022 Poggio de Colli slowly blossoms in the glass. This is pure elegance, silky smooth yet lifted and spry, with a tactile mineral tinge perfectly complementing a polished wave of ripe red berry fruits as hints of blood orange embellish the close. It finishes long and staining, with a coating of sweet tannins and a spicy flourish as nuances of licorice and tart black cherries slowly fade. The warmth of the vintage comes through in the 2022's darker fruit profile; still, its balance is otherworldly.

Ripe and pure, with red and dark fruit, walnuts, pine nuts, red spices and iodine on the nose. The palate is compact and concentrated, with a medium to full body, vivid acidity and broad, finely integrated tannins. Generous but fresh and very balanced. Drink or hold.
