The San Barnaba 2023 Derthona Timorasso is strikingly vivid and structural, opening with aromas of stone fruit, saffron, apricot skin and a mineral edge reminiscent of Chenin Blanc. The palate is electric and saline, driven by bracing acidity and mouthwatering tension that carries through a long, energetic finish. It is framed by a pale copper-orange hue and modest alcohol just over 12%. Sourced from a one-hectare vineyard in Monleale, in the Colli Tortonesi near Timorasso pioneer Walter Massa, and bottled with minimal intervention and low sulfur, this wine will reward patient drinkers over the next five years.
