Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The Vietti 2022 Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona Boscogrosso represents a special selection of fruit from a hillside slope with southwest exposures on sandy soils. This is a generous expression of this promising grape, which has extra textural heft and layering in a hot vintage such as this. It shows a pretty sense of inner balance that could not have been easy to achieve. I tasted this wine months before its commercial release, and it had already started to flesh out. However, this is a white wine that you can easily set aside for another five years of bottle aging.
There are few countries in the world with a viticultural history as long or as illustrious as that claimed by Italy. Grapes were first being grown and cultivated on Italian soil several thousand years ago by the Greeks and the Pheonicians, who named Italy 'Oenotria' – the land of wines – so impressed were they with the climate and the suitability of the soil for wine production. Of course, it was the rise of the Roman Empire which had the most lasting influence on wine production in Italy, and their influence can still be felt today, as much of the riches of the empire came about through their enthusiasm for producing wines and exporting it to neighbouring countries. Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. Italy remains very much a 'land of wines', and one could not imagine this country, its landscape and culture, without it.

Piedmont
Situated in the north-western part of Italy, the region of Piedmont is known worldwide and is highly respected for the quality of the wines produced there. Many of the most successful sub-regions in Piedmont produce many of the world's finest red wines, such as those made from the excellent Nebbiolo grape varietal in areas such as Barolo and Barbaresco. However, the historic wineries which typify this region use a relatively wide variety of grapes, including Dolcetto and Barbera for their red wines, which are typically aged and have a delightful velvety character. Piedmont isn't all about beautifully complex red wines, though, as it is also famed for high quality, elegant sparkling wines, notably the Asti wines made with the white Moscato grape. The region benefits from a range of terroirs which are often well expressed in the sparkling wines, and a wonderfully consistent climate ideal for vineyard cultivation.

The 2022 Timorasso Colli Tortonesi Derthona Boscogrosso comes from a parcel selection at the top of the hill where sandier soils are poorer and naturally limit yields. While the classic bottling spends about 10 months on the lees, this single-vineyard wine spends roughly 16 months and is aged in ceramic and stainless steel rather than large neutral cask. Pouring a bright straw hue, it has a more reserved aromatic profile with deeper savory tones, revealing pineapple rind, peach, golden citrus, yellow flowers, and beeswax. Medium-bodied yet broader and richer on the palate, it offers greater sapidity and glycerin texture while retaining a signature salty mineral finish. This powerful yet balanced expression should continue to improve with time. Pair with vitello tonnato. 2,400 bottles were produced. Drink 2027-2040.

Winery Notes
In the glass it is clear, intense yellow in color. Complex hints emerge on the nose, creating a pleasant combination of freshness and pleasantness, with ethereal notes of hydrocarbons, floral notes like hawthorn and sweet notes such as honey. On the palate it is broad, fresh, mineral, complex and very persistent.
