The 2019 Gold Vidal Icewine was fermented and aged for about 14 weeks in 90% new French oak. It comes in with 272 grams of residual sugar, 10.5 of total acidity and 10% alcohol. Rich and unctuous, this also has classic aromatics and a certain level of freshness that keeps it from being particularly cloying. This is also completely delicious, with a little of bit of spicy apricots on the mouthwatering finish. The acidity lifts the fruit and allows it to shine through. It's never going to be a nervy wine, but it is not flabby either. If you like stickies, this won't disappoint. It should age very well, acquiring a bit more character along the way. Many will like it the way it is, but it can acquire another dimension in time. ... More details

Winery
The finest and highest Brix Vidal grapes were selected for this vintage which displays ripe peaches and apricots on the nose with overtones of marmalade and candied brown sugar. With intense fruit flavours on the palate, the wine's ample natural acidity is softened with a creamy vanilla note afforded by oak aging.

Country: Canada

In Canada, wines are produced in many different parts of the country, and there are major vineyards everywhere from Ontario, British Columbia, southern Quebec and Nova Scotia. Canadian wineries have been producing wine for over two hundred years now, and the Canadian wine industry has seen significant development and expansion over the past couple of decades, when the unique attributes of the country's produce began to find popularity overseas. The most widely admired Canadian wines are ice wines, which are made using grapes which have been allowed to freeze during the early frosts. This process intensifies the flavors and sweetness of the grapes, resulting in highly characterful wines with distinctive properties, and works extremely well with the grape varietals which flourish in the cooler climate of the country.
