The 2020 Cinsault Wellington Old Vine, vines officially planted in 1900, is 100% whole cluster crushed with a shorter maceration of around two weeks compared to the Syrah, matured for one year in 500-litre barrels, blended, then another year in barrel. (There was no 2019 as 90% of the fruit was stolen on the vine!) It has an open knit bouquet with wild strawberry, wilted rose petals and light loamy scents. The palate is well balanced with red cherry, crushed strawberry and a light grip with a touch of black pepper on the finish. Lovely.

Marked with 12.5% alcohol, this delightful bottle of Cinsault will tickle your palate and keep you coming back for more. 1,930 bottles were filled after the wine rested for 20 months in 500-liter French oak barrels. Give it a try!

This aromatic wine has an alluring and complex nose suggesting roses, cranberries, cherries, spice and a hint of thyme. The pallet is fresh and silky textured, with notes of orange peel, rhubarb, maraschino cherries, pink peppercorns and loves. Fine tannins give great structure to the wine. Best served at 16-18°C.

Indeed, in the late 18th century, wines from in and around Cape Town were regarded as amongst the best wines on earth, and were adored for their exoticism and big, fruity flavors Today, the South African wine industry is booming, and wineries are appearing each year along the sun drenched and windy oceanic coastline. Many grape varietals are now grown in the region, however, Chenin Blanc remains the country's flagship varietal, with over eighteen percent of vineyards in the country used for this particular grape, closely followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Colombard.
