The 2020 Trebbiano Rubicone is sweetly scented and lifted with nuances of fresh pear, chamomile and wet stone. Its round textures find balance in a pure display of mineral-tinged white stone fruits and juicy acids that enliven the expression. This tapers off a bit short, yet savory and with a salty flourish. Don’t overthink this no-frills Trebbiano; simply enjoy it.

Varietal: Trebbiano

The Trebbiano grape has long been an important grape in its native Italy, where it has been cultivated for wine production for over a thousand years. We know that Trebbiano was first brought to France in the 14th century, and that it proved to be a popular varietal which quickly spread throughout the country and to elsewhere in Europe. Trebbiano is often used for the production of fortified wines, and is commonly used as a blending grape, but there are also many fine single variety wines made from this varietal, which allow the characteristics of the grape to shine. In particular, it is known for a pleasantly high acidity, with flavors of citrus fruits, white flowers and all sorts of mineral notes on the palate.

Region: Emilia-Romagna

Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy has been considered one of Europe's most important and characterful wine regions for an astonishingly long time. Indeed, for over two and half thousand years, vines of exceedingly high quality have been cultivated in Emilia-Romagna, with many of the region's wines being adored by the Romans, who helped the region grow prosperous as a result of its viticultural excellence. Today, Emilia-Romagna has over fifty five thousand hectares under vine, and no less than twenty-two DOC's producing stunning wines, containing all of the unique flavors and attributes associated with the region. By far the most famous wines of Emilia-Romagna are the sparkling Lambrusco wines, however, the region is widely recognized as being home to many of Italy's finest still red and white wines, too.

Country: Italy

It isn't difficult to understand why Italy is famed not just for the quality of its wines, but also for the vast variety and range of characteristics found in the wines there. The terrain of the country varies wildly, from the lush rolling green hills and valley of Tuscany, to the sun drenched rocky coasts of Sicily, the mountainous and alpine regions of the north, and the marshy lowlands of the east. Italy really does have a little bit of everything. Combine this huge range of landscapes with an almost perfect climate for grape cultivation, and you have a country seemingly designed for viticultural excellence. The results speak for themselves, and it is clear to see that wine has become an inseparable part of Italian culture as a result of its abundance and brilliance. Each village, city and region has a local wine perfectly matched with the cuisine of the area, and not an evening passes without the vast majority of Italian families raising a glass of locally sourced wine with pride and pleasure.
