This wine is spicy and fruity, with fine tannins. The fine structure and the fruit are already harmonious. With ripe black currants and berries, this is an immediately attractive wine.

The 2016 Teyssier is made up of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc aged in 25% new French oak. It has a medium garnet-purple color and reveals baked plums, warm blackberries and black cherry compote notes with touches of garrigue, pencil lead and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate gives up loads of fresh, vibrant black fruits with a velvety texture and great freshness, finishing long with plenty of earthy sparks.

The 2016 Château Teyssier is a beauty. Black cherries, mulberries, cedary herbs, and dried flower notes all flow to a medium-bodied, balanced, vibrant wine that has some tannins to shed, but it offers beautiful purity of fruit.

Offers an open-knit mix of rhubarb, blood orange and plum flavors, while light anise and bramble accents check in on the finish. Singed apple wood hints hang in the background. Drink now through 2023. 1,150 cases made.

Varietal: Red Bordeaux

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are renowned for their acidity and astringency, strong fruit and spice flavors and full body, Merlot grapes are notably rounded, soft, fleshy and lighter on tannin. The combination of these two varietals, along with a small percentage of (commonly) Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc, is the perfect balancing act – the two grape varietals cancel out each others weaker points, and accentuate all that is good about the other.

The result is something truly wonderful – finely crafted red wines which express all of the finest points of each varietal, and holding plenty of fascinating and complex character, flavors and aromas which have helped make this sub-region one of the best in the world.
