Winery
The Poire Williams Pear Eau-de-Vie from the MASSENEZ distillery stands out due to its refined character, concentration and balance. An intense emotional experience that is true to the personality of its original fruit. This Eau-de-Vie is a staple of Distillerie Massenez, and is one of their best sellers, in France but also in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan... The reason becomes clear from the moment you open this traditional flute! The nose is intense and fruity, and the palate is harmonious, with an even balance between the freshness of the fruit and its roundness... It is easy to notice the fruit and this is no coincidence, as one bottle contains the equivalent of fourteen kilograms of Williams Pears. A superb eau-de-vie, a signature of the Massenez distillery, to be enjoyed as a digestif, in a cocktail... Or even in your fruit salads, sorbets... Appearance: pale, brilliant, clear. Nose: lingering, sharp, exuberant, with beautiful density. Palate: complex, harmonious, delicate, round. With pleasant notes of fresh fruit. Well balanced, opulent. A long, flavorsome finish with the taste of fruit.

Region: Alsace

Alsace has to be one of the most fascinating regions of France, with a history which stretches back millennia, and demonstrates perfectly the kind of blended culture that can arise from being located on the border between two enormously important, yet very different countries. Indeed, being on the border between France and Germany has resulted in Alsatian wines being something of a mix between the wines of these two countries. Riesling varietal grapes are grown in enormous quantities here, and display all of their crisp, dry complexity perfectly in the famous wines of Alsace. Alongside this typically Germanic wine, Alsatian vintners also produce plenty of Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Sauvignon Vert wines, all of which are superb when it comes to expressing the finer features of the wonderful Alsatian terroir.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
