Pouring an attractive light mahogany hue, this brandy shows effusive aromas of baked orange, nougat, toasted almond, and vanilla cake. In tasting there is a mineral core that structures the confectionary flavors leading to a long dry finish. - 2021 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE

Pierre Ferrand doesn’t use VS, VSOP, or XO on its labels, but this flagship bottling from Grande Champagne has an average age of around 10 years and is about 10% Colombard along with the Ugni Blanc. Golden honey in color, with a floral nose of violet and rose and a bit of fresh-cut flower stem. On the palate, there’s soft plum and apricot, some underlying fruit pastry, and a bit of baking spice at midpalate that carries through the finish. Solid value, compares favorably to most VSOPs, and also works in cocktails. (40% abv)
Winery
A floral and fresh Cognac from the rarest grapes. Here, we experiment with older, lesser known varieties including the extraordinary Colombard grape. Colombard brings floral notes of lilac and iris, along with fruity notes of apple, pear, apricot, and prune to Ambré, a bright and fresh cognac.

Country: France

French winemakers are subjected to several laws and regulations regarding the wines they produce, and how they can be labeled and sold. Such procedures are designed to increase the overall quality of the country's produce, and also to ensure that wines made in each particular region or appellation are of a character and type which is representative of the area. Thankfully for consumers of wine world-wide, the French have a particularly high reputation to uphold, and seem to do so flawlessly. Every year, wineries from all over France produce millions upon millions of bottles of fine wine, making the most of their native grape varieties and the excellent terrain which covers most of the country. From the expensive and exquisite red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy, to the white wines and cremants of central France, the French are dedicated to providing the world with wines of the highest quality and most distinctive character.
