Always one of the gems in a vintage, the 2018 Château La Fleur De Boüard is a no-brainer purchase and has a ripe, medium to full-bodied, sexy style that carries lots of sweet cassis, spicy oak, flowers, and scorched earth-like aromas and flavors. With plenty of fruit, notable freshness and purity, and the vintage's elegant, seamless style front and center, it's already hard to resist, yet it will integrate its oak over the coming 3-4 years and shine over the following decade or more. ... Black plum and blueberry on the nose with dark chocolate, clove, oyster shell and walnut husk. It’s full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Layered and flavorful. Open already, but better from 2023.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 La Fleur de Boüard displays pronounced scents of baked blackberries, black cherry coulis and tilled soil with hints of kirsch, dried herbs and fungi. Medium to full-bodied with generous black fruits and a soft texture, it has just enough freshness and an earthy finish. The blend here is 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2018 La Fleur de Boüard is laced with copious dark fruit, sweet oak, vanillin, spice and torrefaction. A rich, sumptuous wine, the La Fleur de Boüard shows the more flamboyant side of Lalande de Pomerol. This is an especially dense, extracted style.

Stylish, with a mocha hint out front followed quickly by steeped cherry and plum fruit flavors. Nice licorice coating on the velvety finish. A bit reliant on its toast, but will certainly have fans. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2025. 10,833 cases made.

Varietal: Red Bordeaux

The Bordeaux region of France consistently enjoys the reputation of being the finest region for wine making in the world. But what is it that makes this area around the Gironde river so special? The secret lies in their ancient and careful blend of no more than six high quality, flavorful and unique grape varietals. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Carménere are all permitted for usage in the production of Bordeaux wines, and the winery carefully considers how to balance the fine points of one varietal against another. Most commonly, Cabernet Sauvignon is used as the main grape varietal, usually with vintners making wines containing upwards of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon grape juices. This varietal lends its big, spicy, fruity flavors and astringent, tannin-heavy character to the mix. Normally, this strong varietal is then tempered and rounded by Merlot, a fleshy, fruity and far lighter bodied grape, containing far fewer tannins and a much brighter flavor The blended wines are normally left to age in oak, where they can continue to work together and produce their wonderful results.

Region: Bordeaux

The wineries of Bordeaux in France are widely considered to be amongst the finest on earth, with many of the chateaux found on the Left Bank and in the Médoc region routinely demanding enormous prices and being snapped up by collectors looking to add the best examples of the world's white and red wines to their cellars. Bordeaux's secret to success comes from the fact that the terroir of the region is exceptionally rich in minerals, helped by the clay and gravel soils which typify the area and the Gironde river which runs through it. Normally humid in climate, the nearby Atlantic coast supplies cooling breezes, making Bordeaux a winemaker's dream and resulting in extremely high quality grape varietals. For hundreds of years, the wineries of Bordeaux have been mastering the art of wine blending, and today produce a wide range of wine styles using many of the sixteen grape varietals permitted to grow in the region by French law.

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
