Aromas of tropical fruit, white spring flower and white stone fruit come to the forefront along with whiffs of aromatic herb. On the savory, enveloping palate, tangy acidity accompanies pineapple, yellow apple, lemon drop and baking spice before a hazelnut finish.

There's a honeyed sweetness mixed with candied ginger and hints of sour melon that keeps you coming back to the 2018 Soave Classico La Rocca over and over again. It's deeply textural and savory in character, with a silky, almost oily feel giving way to ripe apple with saline minerality that adds a bit of tactile grip. The finish goes on and on, buzzing with residual acids and spice. Very nice.

A rich white in a sleek, medium-bodied frame. Shows a lightly toasty overtone, with accents of grilled nut and vanilla, and a core of tightly-knit ripe melon, jasmine, baked pineapple, and ground ginger and star anise spice notes. It's fresh and harmonious, but the detailed flavor range should unfurl more fully with short-term aging or decanting. Best from 2022 through 2028. 4,583 cases made, 150 cases imported.
Winery
Color: Brilliant amedium lemon. Perfume: Characterful wine, reminiscent of exotic fruit and nuts on the nose. Palate: Smooth and persistent on the palate, with hints of spice, length and elegance.

Region: Veneto

Veneto has, for hundreds of years, been one of Italy's most important wine regions, and many of the finest wineries and appellations near the Adriatic coast have reached levels of international fame and recognition unmatched by other parts of the country. Amarone, Valpolicella and Bardolino DOC regions are all widely understood to be amongst the best places in the world for flavorful, complex and interesting red wines, and the white Soave wines produced on the foothills of the Alps are enjoyed across the globe for their clarity and crispness. The region benefits from a range of micro-climates, protected from the harsh central European winters by the mountain range, and the generations of expertise and dedication to quality and innovation shown by the hundreds of wineries in the region.

Country: Italy

Italy is recognised as being one of the finest wine producing countries in the world, and it isn't difficult to see why. With a vast amount of land across the country used primarily for vineyard cultivation and wine production, each region of Italy manages to produce a wide range of excellent quality wines, each representative of the region it is produced in. Any lover of Italian wines will be able to tell you of the variety the country produces, from the deliciously astringent and alpine-fresh wines of the northern borders, to the deliciously jammy and fruit-forward wines of the south and the Italian islands. Regions such as Barolo are frequently compared with Bordeaux and Burgundy in France, as their oak aged red wines have all the complexity and earthy, spicy excellence of some of the finest wines in the world, and the sparkling wines of Asti and elsewhere in Italy can easily challenge and often exceed the high standards put forward by Champagne. Thanks to excellent terrain and climatic conditions, Italy has long since proven itself a major player in the world of wines, and long may this dedication to quality and excellence continue.
