The NV Franciacorta Grande Cuvée Alma Non Dosato opens to a very dry and crisp bouquet with tones of citrus, melon, quince and fresh pear. As the wine opens in the glass, you get faint aromas of baked bread or French pastry. This is very dry and chalky with lemon-rind and dried-pear character. Medium-fine bubbles give form to the wine. It’s full and flavorful with a nice, dry finish. Drink now.

Bright straw-yellow. Aromas of fresh apricot and sweet spices, plus whiffs of pineapple and banana. Then similar flavors on the slightly high-toned palate, but an enticing floral quality adds lift and a hint of welcome minerality provides more in the way of complexity. Finishes with good grip and persistence. A blend of 77% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Nero and 1% Pinot Bianco.

A minerally version, with accents of petrol and brine on the nose transitioning to flavors of crunchy pear, candied lemon zest and almond biscotti on the palate. It's fresh and balanced, with a crisp, lacy mousse and more mineral character singing on the finish. Drink now through 2025. 16,666 cases made, 3,150 cases imported.
Winery
Bright yellow in color with green reflections. The nose is characterized by marked minerality and notes of sweet ripe fruit, meringue, pastry and candied peel. The palate is fruit-driven with a creamy mouthfeel and a texture that combines elegance and harmony.

Varietal: Champagne Blend

There are few wine regions of the world with as much influence or fame as that of Champagne in France. The sparkling wines from this special area have long been associated with excellence and magnificent flavors, and much of their success has been down to the careful blending of fine grape varietals in order to achieve spectacular results. Most commonly, Champagne wines use both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietal grapes in more or less equal measures, often boosted by a small quantity of Pinot Meunier for extra bite. The Chardonnay varietal grapes offer their acidity and flavor to the bottle, and help with the dryness associated with quality in this type of wine. The Pinot Noir, on the other hand, gives strength to the wine, and gives Champagne its distinctive 'length' of character.

Region: Lombardy

Lombardy is a stunning region of north west Italy, and is home to many of the country's finest white wines. In particular, the wines made from grapes grown on the shores of the expansive and unspoilt Lake Garda have come to be regarded as the finest of the region, and the Trebbiano di Laguna grapes grown there are capable of expressing their wondrous terroir, alongside their crisp and fresh fruit flavors and aromas. In recent decades, wineries in Lombardy have been keen to expand their portfolio, and plenty of French Bordeaux vines were planted, bearing varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. As such, Lombardy today produces a wide range of excellent wines, packed full of fascinating characteristics and classic flavors which are popular around the world.

Country: Italy

For several decades in the mid to late twentieth century, Italy's reputation for quality wines took a fairly serious blow. This was brought about partly due to lack of regulation in certain regions, and too much regulation in others. This led to several wineries in the beautiful and highly fertile region of Tuscany making the bold move to work outside of the law, which they saw as responsible for the drop in quality in Tuscan wines. They believed that they had the expertise and the generations of experience necessary with which to make truly excellent, world class wines, and set about doing just that. These 'Super Tuscans', as they came to be known, quickly inspired the rest of Italy to improve their produce, and now, Italian wine producers in the twenty-first century are widely recognised to be amongst the best in the world. Regulation and law began to change, and wine drinkers across the globe woke up to the outstanding wines coming out of Italy, which are continuing to improve and impress to this day.
