Color: Concentrated, vibrant, lustrous straw-yellow. Nose: Complex, stylish and polished, extremely vibrant. Floral aromas of orange blossom, gardenias, jasmine, lilies and arum lilies are enhanced by citrus notes of bergamot and candied orange peel, and hints of ripe apricots and white peaches. Seductive tropical aromas of mango, lychees and papaya are enfolded in sage, basil and Mediterranean scrubland, while delicious spicy sensations of white pepper and ginger complete the bouquet. Palate: Seductive and complex, lively and well balanced, with a distinctive and well-judged harmony between texture and acidity, fruity flesh and grip. Floral notes of elderflower alternate with white peaches, citrus fruit, candied citron and percoca peaches, closing on a lovely vegetal hint of sage, samphire and nettles. A spicy, tangy, lingering finish. Food pairings: Particularly well suited to fish-based dishes, ideal for vegetable first courses, white meats and cheeses.

Region: Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Up in the north of Italy, between the magnificent Italian Alps and the Adriatic sea, we find the beautiful region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. This special region produces some of Italy's finest and most distinctive white wines, notable for their uniqueness and differences from the white wines found elsewhere in the country. Due to the region's proximity to Slovenia and Austria, it comes as no real surprise to find excellent Riesling and Pinot Bianco grapes growing in the vineyards of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, prized for their ability to capture the finest features of their wonderful alpine terroir. Friuli-Venezia Giulia prides itself on the fact it is characterized by small, independent wineries, dedicated to producing unusual and characterful wines which are the very essence of the cool, mountainous region they work with.

Country: Italy

For several decades in the mid to late twentieth century, Italy's reputation for quality wines took a fairly serious blow. This was brought about partly due to lack of regulation in certain regions, and too much regulation in others. This led to several wineries in the beautiful and highly fertile region of Tuscany making the bold move to work outside of the law, which they saw as responsible for the drop in quality in Tuscan wines. They believed that they had the expertise and the generations of experience necessary with which to make truly excellent, world class wines, and set about doing just that. These 'Super Tuscans', as they came to be known, quickly inspired the rest of Italy to improve their produce, and now, Italian wine producers in the twenty-first century are widely recognised to be amongst the best in the world. Regulation and law began to change, and wine drinkers across the globe woke up to the outstanding wines coming out of Italy, which are continuing to improve and impress to this day.
