A lighter red in the glass, this is extremely floral and offers super fragrant red flowers and red plums with mushrooms and sweet-smelling, earthy truffle-like nuances. The palate has inbuilt freshness. Super fine tannins are bathed in red plum and stony, slate like flavors. Finishes long and fresh. A wildly interesting wine of depth and detail. Drink now. ... Dark, almost opaque ruby. Intense, spicy raspberry and wild strawberry on the nose, with an exotic gingerbread quality. Very fresh in the mouth, with energetic red fruit flavors supported by bright acidity and silky tannins. With air, an exotic floral pastille note emerged, adding even more complexity. This is very elegant, not to mention highly concentrated.

Supertaut right now, with a bony intensity that drives the mix of black and red berry fruit, while notes of dark olive, thyme, sage and tobacco fill out the background. The racy finish shows a great, almost searing, minerality. Best from 2009 through 2019.

Region: Rhone Valley

For over two thousand years, the southern French region of the Rhone Valley has been home to wine-makers and wineries of many different types. The ancient Greeks were the first to discover that a wide range of grape varietals can flourish in the rich soils and micro-climates which typify the region, and little has changed to this day. In the modern age, the Rhone Valley is recognized around the world as the home of excellent quality white, red and rosé wines, as well as some of the most highly respected blended wines on earth. The region is split into two distinctive sub-regions, with the cooler, continental northern sub-region producing primarily Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier wines of exquisite quality, and the hotter southern sub-region growing a much wider variety of grapes.

Country: France

Year in, year out, France enjoys its prestigious reputation as the producer of the finest wines in the world. With a wine making history which spans several thousand years and owes its expertise to the Romans, it comes as little surprise that this most highly esteemed of the Old World wine countries continues to impress and enchant both novices and experts to this day. Despite the rise in quality of wines from neighboring European countries, not to mention the New World, the French wine industry continues to boom, with up to eight billion bottles being produced in recent years. However, France prides itself on always putting quality before quantity, and the wide range in fine produce is a testament to the dedication and knowledge of the wineries across the country. Indeed, from rich and complex reds to light and aromatic white wines, French wines are as varied and interesting as they are enjoyable to drink, making this country a firm favorite for wine lovers across the globe.
