Deep vivid ruby. Vibrant aromas of black raspberry, cherry cola and violet pick up allspice and licorice nuances with air. Juicy, concentrated and subtly sweet, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors that become deeper and sweeter with air. The floral note comes back strongly on the impressively long finish, which features sneaky tannins, lingering spiciness and a touch of vanilla. (Vinous) ... More details

Rated 92 by Wine Enthusiast
Owned by Beaune merchant Louis Jadot, this cru estate produces some impressive wines. While its alcohol is excessive for a Beaujolais, it wears its power well. The black plum fruit and tannins from wood aging that are still very present will soften over the next year to give a rich generous wine with a style that is Burgundian rather than traditional Beaujolais. Drink from 2018.

Blackberry and blueberry aromas of wet leaves, stones and caramel. Full body, round and chewy tannins and a long finish. Extracted. Needs time to soften. Drink in 2019.

Rated 91 by Wine Spectator
A rich, concentrated style, displaying blackberry compote, dark chocolate and plum sauce flavors, edged with sweet spice and smoky details. Firm, integrated tannins and solid acidity lend ample structure through the licorice-tinged finish. Drink now through 2025. 1,000 cases made.
Winery
With a deep cherry color and nut and red fruit aromas, this wine has firm tannins that can be austere in their youth. Can be consumed immediately, but will soften and develop with a few years of ageing.

Region: Burgundy

There are few more famous wine regions in the world than Burgundy, and this special area has given much to raise the profile of fine French wines around the world. Although most commonly associated with excellent quality red wines made with the Pinot Noir varietal, this region is home to several red and white varietals and produces and impressive range of wines, from still to sparkling, dry to sweet, full bodied and aged, and from to light and drinkable. The region of Burgundy has been producing excellent wines for centuries, with much evidence to suggest that the ancient Gauls were the first to cultivate the native vines which flourish here in the warm summers, and on the excellent soil fed by local rivers. This type of heritage has led to a wine industry highly unique, deeply traditional, and with an exquisite reputation to uphold.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
