This is a very rich white with sliced, dried mango and apple, as well as cooked apples, candle wax and light vanilla. Full-bodied, layered and intense. Big, rich wine, yet remaining fresh and vivid. Needs time to come together. A blend of 80% sauvignon blanc and 20% semillon. but the semillon really marks the wine. Searing acidity, too. Try after 2021. ... More details

The cool temperatures during the growing cycle made 2017 an excellent vintage for white Bordeaux, allowing for high aromatics. Now four years old, there are touches of orange peel and citrus zest along with gentle lemongrass, white pear and apricot pit flavours. Gentle, ready to drink but will age further. Aged in 6% new oak, pH3.17. It was picked from 5 September until 22 September., from vines located in the northerly part of the Médoc region, close to the estuary. Drinking Window 2021 - 2032.

A blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon, the 2017 Blanc comes sailing out of the glass with bold notes of white peaches, fresh pineapple, lemon tart and lime cordial plus suggestions of honeysuckle, beeswax and musk perfume with a touch of wild sage. Medium-bodied and with a beautiful silky texture, the palate is packed with vibrant stone fruit and tropical fruit flavors, sporting a racy line of freshness, and it finishes long with an invigorating lift.

Very alluring, with peach melba, apricot, nectarine and bitter almond notes layered seamlessly on a creamy-textured palate that runs through a long, orange blossom– and white ginger–accented finish. Distinctive and suave in feel. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2025. 833 cases made.

The 2017 Chateau Cos D'Estournel Blanc is a great white based on a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon aged ten months in mostly used barrels. This medium gold-hued effort offers bright lemon and white grapefruit notes as well as a kiss of minerality and honeysuckle. It's vibrant and racy, yet beautifully textured, balanced, and unquestionably high quality.

The 2017 Cos d'Estournel Blanc has a very attractive bouquet that offers fresh lime, apricot blossom and subtle pineapple scents that I neatly integrated with the oak. The palate is well balanced with a harmonious entry and fine acidity, plenty of lime and green apple notes mixed with caramelised pear. The palate perhaps does not quite match the attractiveness on the aromatics, but will still drink well for the next 10 years.

Varietal: White Bordeaux

France is widely known as being the home of many of the world's finest white wines, and within France, the name which rings out across the wine world and is always associated with excellence of quality and flavor is Bordeaux. The white wines of the magnificent Bordeaux region are typically blended, and rely on the winemaker's skill and expertise to achieve the fine balance between the primary grape varietals used. Most blended white Bordeaux wines are made up of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle varietals, although there are actually nine grapes officially allowed by French wine law for the inclusion in Bordeaux white wines. The other six are Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Ondenc and Mauzac, although the use of these other grapes has been in steady decline over the past century.
