The 2020 Les Pagodes de Cos Blanc is a gorgeous, expressive white. Apricot, flowers, lemon confit, white pepper and light tropical notes all meld together in an effortless, layered white that hits all the right notes. This is an incredibly classy second wine. In fact, the Pagodes Blanc is just as good or better than many top labels!

Thick citrus fruits - honey-edged lemon, lime, orange peel, grapefruit and pineapple on nose and palate. Full with lots of character and personality. High acidity does well to match the richer palate - keeping the energy and liveliness - with texture and grip. Nicely detailed with power and persistence.

The 2020 Pagodes De Cos Blanc is mostly Sauvignon Blanc yet includes 10% Semillon, and it shows how good the whites are today from this château. Vibrant gold-hued, with a great nose of white grapefruit, ripe citrus, flowers, and chalky minerality, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, high yet integrated, clean acidity, and a great finish.

A blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon, the 2020 Pagodes de Cos Blanc exhibits aromas of nectarine, gooseberries, white flowers and pastry cream, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate framed by tangy acids, concluding with a lemongrass-inflected finish. This is a strong effort in the genre.

Rated 91 - The 2020 Pagodes de Cos Blanc offers notes of fresh lemons, grapefruit oil, and yuzu which jump from the glass, with underlying suggestions of chalk dust and allspice. The medium-bodied palate delivers intense citrus flavors, with a racy backbone and a long chalky finish. - The Wine Independent

Very Sauvignon Blanc, this has a grassy character. Fresh citrus and bright acidity give total freshness to the wine. The lightness is delicious. Drink from 2024.

Presents peach, green almond and yellow plum notes that give this a fun, off-beat profile, with a honeysuckle flourish on the finish. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now. 600 cases made, 90 cases imported.

Varietal: White Bordeaux

Of all the blended white wines in the world, it is those which come out of the Bordeaux region of France which have an unrivaled reputation for excellence of character and sublime, complex flavors This is mainly due to the expertise of the established wineries of the region, who have for centuries been carefully and skilfully blended selected grape varietals in order to balance their wines and bring out each grape's best features. There are nine grape varietals allowed by French law for the inclusion in Bordeaux white blended wines, and these are Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle, Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Ondenc and Mauzac. However, the vast majority of white wines from this region are made primarily from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, with a little Sémillon or Muscadelle blended into their fermenting juices.

Region: Bordeaux

Of all the wine regions in France, the mostly highly esteemed and famous is surely Bordeaux. Most commonly associated with their superb examples of blended red wines, usually made with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot varietals, Bordeaux consistently demonstrates that their mix of traditional and modern wine-making styles is the recipe for fame and success. The region benefits greatly from its humid climate, and the fact that its clay and gravel based soils are perfect for growing the fine grape varietals which flourish there. The region is split into quite distinct sub-regions, with the finest generally believed to be the Left Bank and the Médoc region, where many of the most well known chateaux are based and produce their wonderful red and white wines.

Country: France

France is renowned across the globe for its quality wines and the careful expertise which goes into making them, but what is truly remarkable about this relatively small country is the vast range of wines it produces in such huge amounts each year. Not only are the finest red wines in the world said to come from the beautiful regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, but elsewhere in the country we find the Champagne region, and areas such as the Rhone Valley and the Loire, whose white wines consistently receive awards and accolades by the plenty. This range is a result of the great variety of climatic conditions and terrain found in France, coupled with generations of wine makers working within single appellations. Their knowledge of specific terroirs and grape varieties has, over time, perfected the production of wines within their region, and the end results continue to impress the world to this day.
