The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is positively stellar. Dark fruit, savory herbs, leather, licorice and menthol race out of the glass. Powerful and vertical, with serious intensity, the 2021 is a super-classic Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon. All the elements are so well balanced. Graphite, incense and a whole range of mineral/savory tones linger on the brooding finish. Specifically, the tannins are incredibly refined—quite an achievement for this site. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is positively stellar. Dark fruit, savory herbs, leather, licorice and menthol race out of the glass. Powerful and vertical, with serious intensity, the 2021 is a super-classic Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon. All the elements are so well balanced. Graphite, incense and a whole range of mineral/savory tones linger on the brooding finish. Specifically, the tannins are incredibly refined—quite an achievement for this site. A dollop of Merlot likely contributes to that.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard checks in as 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot that's from 30-year-old vines in the Coombsville appellation, in the southern part of Napa Valley. It has a classic, old school Napa vibe in its herbal black fruits, camphor, bouquet garni, and violet-tinged aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has terrific purity and freshness, ripe tannins, and the class to benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and evolve for at least two decades.

From the valleys of California and Chile to the rolling hillsides of the Bordeaux region of France, the one red wine grape varietal you will find in abundance is the Cabernet Sauvignon.
